Lanvin

Lanvin is the oldest surviving French couture house, founded in 1889 by Jeanne Lanvin, who began not as a designer but as a milliner. She taught herself to sew in order to dress her daughter Marguerite with the beauty she could not otherwise afford. That origin story, of a mother’s devotion transformed into a language of dress, never left the house. Lanvin became synonymous with embellishment, with theatre, with the kind of craft that does not rush and cannot be replicated by a machine. The robe de style, the deep jewelled tones, the trailing silhouettes: a vocabulary built for evenings that deserved to be remembered. Pre-loved Lanvin is an entry into one of fashion’s founding narratives.
