JW Anderson

Jonathan Anderson founded his label in London in 2008 and spent the years that followed dismantling the assumptions of what a luxury brand was supposed to be. He broke gendered dressing with collections that moved freely between menswear and womenswear, introduced unexpected material combinations, and built a visual language that was simultaneously referential and entirely his own. The JW Anderson pigeon clutch, the anchor print, the deconstructed knitwear: objects that entered the cultural conversation the moment they appeared. His appointment as creative director of Loewe in 2013 deepened his dialogue with craft and heritage without softening the instincts of his own house.
